Basic Traffic Regulations
If you want to drive a car in Paphos, Cyprus, you must be at least 17.5 years of age. If you are 17.5 years old, you are allowed to drive a moped and if you want to drive a motorcycle, you must be 21 years old. When riding a moped, motorcycle or even a bicycle, wearing a helmet is compulsory. If you want to drive a motor vehicle (excluding mopeds) in Paphos, Cyprus you must have a valid driving license. Municipal and private parking places and garages are widely available. Pay parking on the street is available in the town centres. Also, parking or stopping the vehicle at a double yellow line is illegal but short stops to load or unload are allowed at a single yellow line though parking is prohibited.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is illegal. If caught, a holder of a Cypriot driving license could lose 3 to 6 points from the license. The court determines the fine for such offences. Foreign license holders can be imprisoned or fined on the spot.
