The strikingly beautiful city of Paphos (Pafos) has about 27 beaches and 50km of coastline. Vacationers and even the local people are spoilt for choices when it comes to beaches, and everyone has their favourite.
Mostly, all the beaches are well equipped with up-to-date facilities and lifeguards for protection. More than 12 beaches in the region have been awarded the coveted ‘blue flag’ which makes it all the more promising.

Along the coast of Kato Paphos there are a number of small beaches. All the famous and big hotels are located along or near their coastline. There are enough facilities for children and adults and are within close reach of the taverns. This beach is very popular among children.
Coral Bay is one of the most beautiful and sandy beaches in Paphos and it can be the base point to discover places like Troodos Mountains or the fishing villages of Latchi and Polis. Sparkling clear waters are excellent for swimming, diving and for other water sports. Some of the best hotels and restaurants are located here and one can shop for fish and local Cyprus delicacies. The seawaters glimmer in the night and one can enjoy the view by sitting in a nearby tavern sipping a glass of local wine.
Known as Aphrodite’s birthplace, this place has got a mythological and historical value, which makes it the most visited beach of Paphos. It is said that it was here that Aphrodite emerged from the sea foam and is now a popular place for romantic couples. The rocks that surround the sea have another story to tell about the Byzantine guard Digenis Akritas who used them to destroy the Arab ships.
Located along the Pachyammos Bay, this is one of the twelve beaches of Paphos that was awarded the Blue Flag based on environmental management criteria like sewage treatment, coastal planning and protection, bathing water quality, etc. It is a narrow beach and popular among the tourists due to its location and convenience from the city. The beach is owned by the Paphos municipality and has special facilities for the handicapped people.
The Pharos (Faros) beach is a family beach located on the Tomb of Kings road in Paphos. There is a pebble and rock beach with some patches of sand in between. There is a bar where one can hire sunbeds and umbrellas. It is easily accessible as the bus stop is situated just outside the beach.
Situated near the Geroskipou village, the stunning beach of Geroskipou is also known as Yeroskipou Beach. It is one of the most popular beaches in Paphos and is easily reachable by cars, bicycles or public transport. This beach is ideal for enjoying a swim or for spending time with family as lots of water sports options are available on the beach. Geroskipou Beach is also well-known for the volleyball tournaments that are held regularly and attract enthusiasts from all over the world.
This popular beach in Paphos lies in the Peyia district and is easily accessible from most of the places. The beach is well equipped with all the ultra-modern facilities like sunbeds and umbrellas, while in case of emergency lifeguards are also available. The Laourou beach is a nice spot to spend a lazy summer afternoon.
Another favourite local beach is the Municipal Baths Beach, which is located in the centre of Kato Paphos near Poseidonos Avenue and the Paphos Castle. This beach has deep waters and is suitable for experienced swimmers. Basic facilities such as umbrellas and sunbeds are provided in addition to on-duty lifeguards.
